ARGENTINA: BUNKERING OFF LA PLATA, BUENOS AIRES – UPDATE
Published: 23 February 2021
In our news item published 15 January, we set out the requirement for all vessels to have an OSRO Certificate in place if they were loading bunkers at Zona Comun off La Plata. Further clarification has now been received from the Argentine Coast Guard and our local correspondents have advised that:
- Tankers carrying hydrocarbons or other harmful substances and which are already sailing/operating in Argentina with a valid OSRO Certificate do not require any additional response services in order to take on bunkers at Zona Comun; and
- Dry cargo vessels (such as bulk carriers or containerships) do not require an OSRO Certificate in order to take on bunkers at Zona Comun.
As always, Members are advised to check with local agents or correspondents for further updates.
