ARGENTINA: BUNKERING OFF LA PLATA, BUENOS AIRES
Published: 15 January 2021
We have been advised that the rules for bunkering at Zona Comun (off La Plata) have changed. In the past it was understood that the tanker providing the bunkers needed to have their own oil spill response arrangements in place prior to bunkering. It now seems that the authorities require any ship planning to load bunkers at Zona Comun to arrange a preventative system to guarantee a response to any oil spill within 60 minutes (i.e. they must have an OSRO Certificate in place prior to taking on bunkers).
Members are advised to contact local agents or correspondents to check that they have the correct measures in place before taking on bunkers.
