INDONESIA: POLIO VACCINE COMPULSORY FOR ARRIVALS FROM THE PHILIPPINES

November 8, 2019

A Circular dated 20 September 2019 from the Indonesian Directorate General of Disease Prevention of Ministry of Health makes it compulsory for all Health Offices at Indonesian sea and air ports to coordinate with immigration to ensure that everyone arriving from the Philippines has had a polio vaccination, evidenced by an International Certificate of Vaccination or Prophylaxis (ICV).

The vaccine must have been obtained at least 4 weeks prior to arrival in Indonesia. If the person has not obtained the vaccine, he/she must be given the polio vaccination on arrival in Indonesia, for which there is a charge, and if they refuse to have a vaccination, then he/she can be deported or prevented from entering Indonesia.
