URUGUAY: IMPLEMENTATION OF THE IMSBC CODE
Published: 24 February 2020
The Uruguay Coast Guard Authorities have recently issued a new by-law, “Disposición Marítima N° 172”, which makes compliance with the IMSBC Code mandatory. The new by-law follows the advice in the IMSBC Code and sets out information about the stowage and safe carriage of some of the more potentially dangerous cargoes such as concentrates and ore fines that can liquefy. It also sets out the procedures for sampling, testing and control of the moisture content, together with formats with the various certificates of approval.
