UKRAINE: UPDATE
Published: 29 November 2018
Following an attack on Ukrainian naval support vessels earlier this week in the Azov Sea and Kerch Channel area our local correspondents advise that traffic has resumed through the Channel but with certain restrictions.
Foreign ships destined for Russian ports in the Azov Sea can transit the area without problems. If ships are destined for Ukrainian ports then they are subject to checks by the Russian authorities, inward and outward, and these checks can cause substantial delays. Ukrainian ports such as Odessa, Chornomorsk and Yuzhny are not affected but ships trading to the ports of Mariupol and Berdyansk are subject to delays.
Members trading in the area are advised to check with local agents and correspondents for up to date information.
