ARGENTINA: ELECTRONIC FILING FOR IMPORT CARGO MANIFEST

There are new requirements in Argentina with effect from 27 August 2018 for advance information that needs to be submitted for ships coming into Argentina. The main differences from the previous regulations are that the verified gross mass (VGM) for all empty and full containers is now a mandatory piece of information and the customs information must be put into the system as soon as the ship departs the loading port – previously it had to be 5 days before arrival in Argentina. Members are advised to check with local agents to make sure that they are aware of the amended regulations and the new time frames involved.
