CHINA: EXTENDS THE LIST OF BANNED WASTE PRODUCTS

Chinese authorities have recently announced that they are adding more products to the list of solid waste products that are not allowed to be imported into China. With effect from 31 December 2018 the following items are not to be imported: slag containing manganese, oxide scale from steel rolling, slag steel, many types of industrial plastics including polyvinyl (EVA), styrene polymers, PET waste (excluding drinks bottles), compressed automobile scrap, waste electric motors and ship scrap. Members thinking of carrying such scrap products to China are advised to check the local regulations carefully before arrival in Chinese ports.
