ASIAN GYPSY MOTH: ARGENTINIAN REGULATIONS NOW IN FORCE
Published: 9 April 2021
Updated: 11 July 2024
We have published a 2024 update on the Asian Gypsy Moth.
Argentina has announced that new control measures and related inspections for the prevention of Asian Gypsy Moth will start on 12 April 2021. Vessels that have called Chinese, Japanese, Korean and Pacific Russian ports within the May to September period (for a full list of ports and dates contact local agents or correspondents) up to 24 months before arrival in Argentina are required to have a “Certificate of Vessel free of Asian Gypsy Moth” issued by the Sanitary Authority of the affected port of call. Any vessel that cannot produce this certificate will be inspected. In addition, around 35% of vessels holding certificates will also be inspected. Inspections will be performed alongside, in daylight hours, and should not delay a vessel´s operation.
