The maritime industry continues to grapple with significant challenges related to damage to property and claims involving Fixed and Floating Objects (FFO) such as harbors, docks, piers, jetties, dolphins, buoys, pipelines, cranes and other movable or immovable objects. These incidents not only result in structural damage but can also trigger complex claims involving business interruption, liability disputes and costly repairs. These incidents, often arising from contact with vessels during navigation, berthing or anchoring operations, can lead to substantial liabilities, operational disruptions and complex claims processes.
Our latest webinar explored the technical, legal, and operational aspects of FFO claims, focusing on liability and structural damage. Key topics included the importance of timely post-incident surveys, legal principles for managing claims, strategies for handling business interruption investigations, best practices for drafting robust contracts and recent trends in FFO claims.
The webinar was hosted by Charles Chong, Associate Director (Loss Prevention) at Britannia P&I, covering a range of topics related to damage to property and FFO claims.
Our expert panel was formed of:
- Donal Keaney, Partner, Master Mariner, Hill Dickinson LLP
- Jeroen Overbeek, Maritime Civil Engineer, APAC Regional Manager, Waves Group
- Colin Chung, Associate Director – Britannia P&I
