DESIGNATED ANCHORAGES OFF BINTAN/BATAM
Published: 3 February 2022
The Indonesian Directorate General of Sea Transportation (DGST) has provided details of designated anchorage areas within Indonesian territorial waters in waters off Bintan/Batam (“East OPL”). The Minister of Transportation Decree Number (KM) 30 of 2021 has been published and which provides the location of designated anchorages in the waters off Tanjung Berakit, via circular KM 30 of 2021 (in Bahasa Indonesia). A free translation of the Decree Number (KM) 30 of 2021 is available.
Members are reminded to obtain permission from the Indonesian authorities (through a local agent) and anchor in a designated anchorage, when their vessel is in Indonesian territorial waters, especially off Bintan/Batam (“East OPL”), to avoid indefinite detention.
