BSAFE: NEW CASE STUDY PUBLISHED – SEAFARER INJURED WHILE SECURING CONTAINERS

The latest BSafe case study looks at an incident where a seafarer was seriously injured while securing containers. The case involved a multi-purpose dry cargo ship which was loading containers on deck while moored. As the crew were securing the containers, one seafarer was hit on the foot by the lower end of a falling lashing bar. This resulted in a serious injury and the amputation of a toe.
