SANTOS PORT AUTHORITY: NEW BERTHING AND MOORING RULES

Correspondents Brazil P&I have advised that the port authority of Santos, Brazil has published new regulations for berthing and mooring of vessels, valid from 26 August 2020. Resolution 150/2020 establishes berthing requirements and preferences for war, cruise, service, and cargo vessels calling the port of Santos.
Additional restrictions for older vessels include:
- Vessels older than 18 years (built before 2002) will require a P&I certificate and confirmation of wreck removal cover, and may be subject to a PSC inspection.
- Vessels older than 30 years (built before 1990) will not be accepted, unless the vessel has undergone retrofitting.
