ARGENTINA: NEW NAVIGATION REGULATIONS

Argentina’s Maritime Authority have recently enacted new Regulations for Navigation in Argentina (REGINAVE) which will enable the Argentinean Coast Guard (CG) to impose fines on foreign seafarers and shipping companies for breaches of maritime and environmental laws. The level of fines is increased, and the CG is also entitled to detain any foreign vessel in which an infringement was committed, until any fine is paid or sufficient financial guarantee is provided.
