ISO/PAS 23263:2019 – PETROLEUM PRODUCTS MARINE FUEL
Published: 27 September 2019
The ISO has now published a new specification for IMO 2020 compliant marine fuels – “Petroleum products – Fuels (class F) – Considerations for fuel suppliers and users regarding marine fuel quality in view of the implementation of maximum 0.5% sulphur in 2020”. The Publicly Available Specification (PAS 23263:2019) defines general requirements and serves to confirm that fuels with maximum 0.50% sulphur will still need to meet ISO 8217 specifications, preferably ISO 8217:2017.
The PAS provides considerations on the compatibility between fuels, as well as additional information on ISO 8217:2017, Annex B, and technical considerations for characteristics which may apply to some fuels, including Kinematic viscosity; Cold flow properties; Stability; Ignition characteristics and Catalyst fines.
