SUSPENSION OF THE ECOLOGICAL INSPECTORS’ DOUBTFUL ACTIVITY IN UKRAINIAN PORTS

Following elections in Ukraine there has been a temporary ban on ‘ecological inspectors’ entering the ports of Ukraine. This ban is initially for two months, but may result in the end of the custom of ‘inspectors’ attempting to board foreign ships to take samples of allegedly dirty ballast water and imposing high fines on the ship. Members are asked by local correspondents to report any incidents of suspicious inspections.
