SINGAPORE: WARNING OF INCREASE IN DETENTIONS FOR SEWAGE ISSUES
Published: 9 May 2019
Authorities in Singapore have said that the most common reason for Port State Control (PSC) detentions relates to defective sewage treatment plants. The number of detentions for this has been increasing since the start of the year. The reasons for the detentions could include inadequate maintenance or defects found in the treatment plant. Members are reminded to follow the IMO guidelines in relation to the treatment of sewage and observe all MARPOL Annex IV requirements.
