CHINA: INTERTANKO WARNS OF UNCHARTED TERMINALS
Published: 25 April 2019
INTERTANKO has recently received a number of reports from its members relating to uncharted terminals in Chinese ports following a request for feedback. Details of the reported terminals and berths can be found in the INTERTANKO alert.
Hydrographic inaccuracies and the non-marking of existing terminals on charts pose serious navigational risks and prevent ships’ masters from carrying out proper passage planning and risk assessment. INTERTANKO has raised this issue with the Chinese authorities and has asked them for confirmation that they will be updating navigational charts and to make sure that all new terminals are clearly marked in future.
If Members become aware of any other uncharted terminals or berths they are asked to inform the INTERTANKO Secretariat in Singapore at: singapore@intertanko.com or contact INTERTANKO’s Tim Wilkins Tim.Wilkins@intertanko.com or Joyce Teng joyce.teng@intertanko.com
