CHINA: WARNING OF FISHING NET DAMAGE IN NINGDE AREA
Published: 28 February 2019
Our correspondents in China have advised that there have been a number of recent incidents where ships have made contact with fishing nets in the Ningde area, often when the ships are at anchor and waiting for berths at Ningde or Kement ports. The area is not a regulated anchorage area, but as the official anchorage area is quite small, and often busy, ships are forced to anchor elsewhere. The advice from our local correspondents is to keep as clear as possible from the fishing net area, but if this is not possible, then enter the area in daylight hours and maintain a good lookout. If contact is made with the nets, do not allow the fishermen on board but contact the local MSA and local agents. A map and all contact details can be found on the Huatai circular.
