CHINA: UPDATED REGULATIONS FOR EMISSION CONTROL AREA (ECAs)
Published: 13 December 2018
The Chinese Ministry of Transport has issued new regulations to effective from 1 January 2019. These regulations make some significant changes to the existing ECA scheme. We are grateful to our correspondents Huatai for their circular explaining the new regulations and a link to their circular can be found below. The regulations apply to all ships which are sailing, anchoring or working in the ECAs. From 1 January 2019 all ocean-going ships are required to use fuel with low sulphur content not exceeding 0.5%m/m when entering the ECAs. Full details of the ECAs can be found in the circular.
