SINGAPORE: CONTAMINATED FUEL OIL WARNING
Published: 3 August 2018
Singapore based consulting firm Maritec Pte Ltd have warned that, in recent weeks, samples of fuel oil bunkered in Singapore have shown signs of contamination similar to those reported recently in the US Gulf. The contamination has resulted in sludging of centrifuges and filters with risk of blackout or loss of propulsion. Members are advised to ensure due diligence is carried out both before and after bunkering in order to avoid material damage.
