VENEZUELA: CIVIC PROTESTS
April 27, 2017
The pro and anti government protests in Venezuela, which have been ongoing since the beginning of April, have resulted in 24 deaths with many more injured. Local correspondents have reassured the maritime industry that most ports and terminals are working as normal as they are generally under the control of the government and have a strong military presence. However, travel and communication with other areas of the country are difficult and so the advice is that the crew should remain on board when in Venezuelan ports. Members are advised to contact local agents and correspondents for further information if required.
