US: WHAT TO DO IF THE BWM SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING
The US Coast Guard has issued guidelines about what to do if a ship is bound for a US port and does not have a fully functioning BWM system on board. As Members are aware, there are complex regulations relating to BWM in the US and there are various BWM systems that have been approved by the US. If the on-board system is not working, then these new guidelines set out in detail the steps that must be taken to contact the US authorities. There are different rules, depending on whether the compliance date for installing a BWM system has been passed. Members who may be affected are encouraged to read the full text of the guidelines.
