We are delighted to announce that, with effect from 1 January 2017, John Ridgway will join TR(B), Managers of Britannia, as TR(B)’s non-executive chairman. For those of you who are not familiar with John a brief CV is set out below. This appointment requires regulatory approval, which is expected to be received within a few weeks.

John Ridgway joined BP in 1971 and remained with the company until he retired in 2015. John gained 13 years sea going experience before moving ashore, with his land based career culminating in being BP Shipping’s CEO (2008-2015).

John has a Master’s degree from the Judge Institute, Cambridge University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology as well as a Chartered Marine Technologist. Previous non-executive posts include being the Chairman of both the Oil Companies International Marine Forum and the Marine Preservation Association and being an independent director of The Britannia Steam Ship Insurance Association Limited, the UK Chamber of Shipping and the International Tanker Owners Pollution Federation Ltd.

Following his retirement John has been engaged in a number of other industry activities for commercial and government agencies. This includes his appointment as board advisor for Hafnia Tankers Ltd.
