BRITANNIA ASIAN AND EUROPEAN FORUMS

Published: 2 December 2019

Member forums are held each year in Asia and in Europe. In 2019 there were 75 Member delegates attending the Asia Forum in Seoul and 41 delegates at the European Forum in Amsterdam. Members were provided with updates of the robust financial health of their Club as well as being given an overview of claims for the year.

At the European Forum held Thursday 7 November, our guest speaker was John Sypnowich from the Maritime Anti-Corruption Network (MACN). Established in 2011 by a small group of committed maritime companies, MACN has grown to include over 100 members globally, and has become one of the pre-eminent examples of collective action to tackle corruption. In February this year, Britannia became the first IG Club to become a member of the MACN. A copy of John Sypnowich’s presentation is available here.

Richard Johnson from ITOPF was the guest speaker at the Asian Forum on Tuesday 19 November. ITOPF is not-for-profit organisation that has responded to over 800 incidents involving oil or chemical spills worldwide. It has developed a wide range of technical services to promote effective response in the marine environment to back up their core role of responding to ship-sourced spills. A copy of Richard Johnston’s presentation is available here.
