ARGENTINA: SURVEYORS FROM SENASA NO LONGER MANDATORY
October 27, 2017
Local correspondents have informed us that with effect from 1 November 2017 it is no longer mandatory for a surveyor from SENASA (the government survey company) to attend in all cases where hold inspection certificates are required. If certificates are required by the cargo buyers, they will now be free to appoint private surveyors to conduct the surveys. In this case, SENASA must be informed 24 hours in advance. SENASA can also be asked to intervene where private surveyors are unable to agree on the condition of the cargo and/or the holds. Of course, this does not affect the situation where cargo buyers specifically request a certificate from a SENASA surveyor. This regulation will be for a trial period of 1 year. Members are advised to contact local port agents or correspondents for further information.
