MEDICAL PAROLE DECISIONS OBSERVED IN THE UNITED STATES

Published: 25 September 2025

We would like to alert members that more stringent medical parole decisions have been recently observed in the US, particularly in respect to crew members that do not possess a US Visa. In certain instances, documentation from a medical professional affirming that the crewman’s medical condition is emergent and that he must be presented to a hospital emergency room due to a life-threatening or limb-threatening symptoms, has been necessary for the parole to be approved.

If members experience a similar situation, we recommend contacting the Club immediately to coordinate local assistance. Members may also want to double-check all relevant immigration documents, particularly visas, are held by crew on ships calling at US ports.
