UNITED STATES COAST GUARD ISSUES NEW GUIDANCE FOR LNG AND ALTERNATIVE MARINE FUEL BUNKERING

The US Coast Guard has published new guidelines for ship-to-ship (STS) bunkering involving liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other alternative marine fuels. Released under CG-OES Policy Letter 01-25, it defines the Coast Guard’s expectations for bunkering operations not covered by existing regulations and establishes a streamlined procedure for the bunkering risk assessment process. It aims to support safe practices as the use of alternative fuels expands in US waters.
